In line with providing an insight into Kinetic’s progression over the last 25 years, biographies of employees from various departments will periodically appear in this section.

Born 1972 in Stockport, Neil left school at 16 to embark on his working life. His first job was as an Office Junior within the Education Division of Stockport Town Hall. Although glad to be earning a wage, Neil soon realised that this job was actually a sentence to life imprisonment; a punishment he had seen others continue with to the age of 65 and it was a path he did not intend to follow.

On reflection, Neil realised that the Town Hall was a negative place to join at 16; it ate his energy, drained his ideas and above all, it was one of the most inefficient places he ever worked. However, with every cloud having a silver lining, on a positive note, Neil’s time at the Town Hall provided him with a great insight into how an organisation should not be run. He firmly believes it was one of the main drivers for his ambition and success that he’s both personally enjoyed and installed into Kinetic Technical’s culture. Neil was worried that if he did not give himself choices, then he could end up back there or somewhere similar!

In 1990, at the age of 18 and on the back of his desire for bigger and better things, Neil left the Town Hall and went back to college to study A Levels in Economics, Maths and Communication Studies. Upon completing these A Levels he was accepted to study Economics at the University of Manchester.

Neil had a great time at university and immersed himself in the student lifestyle; doing enough work to meet the requirements of a drinkers degree (2:2), he enjoyed the flexibility and laid back lifestyle of having to be nowhere at no particular time! Neil admits that he was a typically conscientious student, who worked sometimes and socialised the rest of the time!

In 1995, after completing his degree, Neil tackled a rather undistinguished 4 months of work with British Gas, where he worked from their H.Q in Hattersley. Always eager to learn things from his environment, Neil distinctly remembers that British Gas taught him how not to treat a customer! This was good training because he now does the opposite of everything he was taught at British Gas and Kinetic Technical’s clients seem all the happier for it. On a serious note, one major aspect that he did pick up from his time at British Gas was telephone experience. This set him in good stead for his next role; a highly influential one in Recruitment no less.

In January 1996, Neil’s fledgling career in Recruitment commenced. He joined N.E.S International; initially starting as a Resourcer earning £6k per year, with no chance of commission! Despite the lack of pay he really enjoyed the work, the environment and the people. It was a far cry from the early days at the Town Hall and he could now truly meet his ambitions without hindrance. Within 8 months, through hard work and some luck Neil was soon running one of their largest sections in the company, while at the same time he developed a new section that specialised in recruiting Project Controls Personnel. By 1999 / 2000 his ambition was to establish a new office. A location of Dublin had been decided upon, but unfortunately terms couldn’t be agreed and he decided to leave N.E.S and join Kinetic plc.

Leaving N.E.S was one of the toughest decisions Neil has ever had to make, but on the contrary, joining Kinetic was one the best decisions he’s ever made. Looking back he found leaving N.E.S difficult because he really enjoyed his time there and it was a truly great company that provided extremely good training; the solid base of skills gained at N.E.S were highly beneficial for his next venture – setting up a Technical section within Kinetic plc.

Once at Kinetic plc, his initial remit was to establish a Technical Division with an eye on the Oil & Gas / Energy & Pharmaceutical Industries, hence the really original name of Kinetic Technical Limited! It all started off in 2001 and Neil has now steered the company for 7 years down the line of recruiting internationally for some of the largest companies in the trade.

Initially on his own, working from a corner within Kinetic’s H.Q in Stretford, he began to try and establish a company; one that could compete with others in the Technical Market, one that was successful and ultimately one that other people would enjoy working for.

Neil’s deep-rooted drive and determination for the above saw Kinetic Technical post record profits in 2007 – 2008; a net profit of just over £1m was achieved. The company now employs 15 people within recruitment, 4 full time operational personnel and 1 part time operations assistant. So in total, including Neil, Kinetic Technical has accelerated from one to an impressive 21 people.

Neil firmly believes that Kinetic Technical’s success is down to their employees. Through its reputation, the company is able to attract and retain some of the most talented individuals available in today’s market; they are highly motivated people with a will to succeed. Kinetic Technical utilise their natural skills and through training and mentoring are able to develop their knowledge of the Recruitment / Technical Market and channel their energies in order to achieve a mutually beneficial relationship, where they achieve personal development, enabling the company as a whole to experience continuous growth.
