In his role as President of the Local Trafford Chamber of Commerce, Kinetic Managing Director Neil Smith chaired a business debate between Paul Goggins, the MP for Wythenshawe & Sale East and Chamber of Commerce associates to discuss the issues facing local businesses.
During the event, held in the Nightingale Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital, Mr Goggins gave a speech to around 40 Chamber members outlining the support that Government is giving to local businesses.
Paul Goggins MP said:
“The Government announced a number of measures in the Budget to help local businesses. We need to invest through the downturn in order to encourage future growth and prosperity. But we also need to ensure that we listen to the problems local businesses are facing and react to those appropriately.”
“For example, some local businesses are not aware of the various Government schemes that are on offer to help them through the tough times. I agreed to take up a number of individual concerns with the Treasury to make sure local businesses are supported and encouraged.”
Neil Smith added:
“Through running an S.M.E business myself, I’ve experienced the detrimental effects of the current economic climate. As such, it is vital that Government engages with businesses on the ground to both boost awareness that necessary remedies are in place and introduce accessible support. Above all, joint Government and commerce events such as this debate with Paul Goggins are key to increasing confidence and transparency with local business communities.”
