Job Summary: As a Fettler / Metal Worker, you will be responsible for finishing and preparing fabricated (mild/ carbon) steel components to meet quality standards. This includes: *Cutting steels using power tools (prior experience with steel is required!) *Grinding, gauging and cleaning up carbon steel welded products *Removing sharp edges, burrs and imperfections *Ensuring all parts are ready for assembly or dispatch *Fast paced production environment with repetitive hand duties! You will work closely with the fabrication and robot welders to maintain high standards of structural integrity and finish. Essential Experience as Fettler / Metal Worker: *Prior experience using hand-held grinders on steel products *Experience in fettling or similar steel-related cutting and cleaning processes (e.g peening, linishing, buffing) Please do not apply if you have never used hand grinders with steel products before! Details of the Fettler / Metal Worker role: *Hours: Monday-Wednesday 07:00-17:00, Thursday 07:00-16:30 *Overtime: Available on Friday, paid at Time and a half *Hourly Rate: £14.63 *Status: Temp to Perm after 18 weeks, following probationary period Key Responsibilities as Fettler / Metal Worker *Fettling and finishing fabricated steel components, removing sharp edges, burrs, and imperfections *Cutting and trimming steel sections using appropriate tools and equipment *Gauging and cleaning up carbon steel welded products to ensure smooth surfaces and accurate dimensions *Use of grinders, chisels, wire brushes and other hand tools for finishing operations *Cleaning small brackets (mild steel) removed from robot welders *Removing spatter and defects caused by gas welding *Linishing and fettling carbon steel to achieve a smooth standard finish *Inspecting components for quality and conformance to engineering specifications Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols. Skills & Qualifications: *Previous experience in fettling, grinding or finishing steel components *Ability to use power tools, hand-held grinders and/ oxy-acetylene equipment safely and effectively *Understanding of structural steel fabrication processes *Ability to read and interpret technical drawings *Strong attention to detail and ability to work at a good pace to meet production deadlines *Physical fitness for a labour-intensive role (daily duties are repetitive and involve handling light brackets up to 10kg) *Experience in flame straightening, gauging, or similar processes is advantageous *Possibility to train on robot welders later down the line (not essential now) Additional Information: *Labour demanding role with repetitive tasks *Keen eye for detail required *£14.63 per hour *Great opportunity to join a busy, friendly team with long-term prospects (upon completion of the 18week temporary 'like a probationary period' To be considered for this great Fettler / Metal Worker opportunity, press 'APPLY' now!
