Kinetic are seeking to recruit an experienced Head of Manufacturing Engineering for a permanent role with a Global business in the Preston area!
HEAD OF MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING
Background: The business is developing its Senior Manufacturing Team for the future, to enable it to meet demand and lead its advanced manufacturing capability, to deliver its high value assets to customers worldwide.
The role: The incumbent will have complete oversight of the design to manufacture function of the business. This will involve interpreting concepts and designs, develop, implement and embed a manufacturing process to a manufactured reality. To achieve this consideration will be given to areas that enables the manufacture of new or an updated product to meet the design intent, cost, schedule and quality commitments in the most effective, efficient & economic way possible.
Responsible for the strategic development, engineering excellence and maintenance of the Line of Business Manufacturing Engineering discipline, covering the development and sustainment of professional standards for engineering resource, processes and toolsets and manufacturing technologies.
Location: Blackburn/Preston
Salary: £85,000 - £95,000
Benefits: Bonus 15% Performance/Profit Linked, Company Car Allowance (£680 pcm), Private Health Care, Relocation Assistance, PPS 4%/6%, Holidays 25 + 8 pa
Work Hours: Monday - Friday (On-site) - Flexibility to Hybrid 3 days onsite 2 days remote
Reports: Senior Level / Equivalent 10 people direct, overall oversight of 600 in facility
Reports Into: Production Director / Board
International Scope: Some correspondence overseas
Travel: Unlikely but should not rule out
Qualification: Degree preferred and member of Engineering Institute
Type of experience: Large business (MNC's), complex manufacturing (automotive, aerospace, OEM etc.), culturally similar
Responsibilities:
* Engineering design is in line with Manufacturing capability
* Manufacturing capability & technology is of required capability to meet design requirement
* Design intent met
* Programme cost, schedule and quality commitments are met through manufacturing engineering deliverables
* Manufacturing Engineering methods and controls are at a level that is compatible with our people's qualification and experience
* Support build line and continuous improvements
* Experienced leader within one or multiple sectors
* Successful delivery in a Programme Delivery/ or Engineering/ Manufacturing functional role on a major programme
* Ability to influence directly and indirectly to achieve the required business outcomes
* Effective decision maker who operates with pace and a delivery mindset
Requirements:
* Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering disciplines, processes, toolsets, procedures, standards and technologies.
* Broad knowledge of Manufacturing operations, including quality management, facility management, supplier management, research and development, production operations and logistics planning and control.
* Depth of knowledge of a matrix organisation/ programme/ cross functional business
* Full understanding of the IBP and financial processes and management/HR processes
* Working knowledge of the Life Cycle Management and Operational Framework processes
* Proven experience and credibility to gain confidence of the Engineering, Manufacturing and Procurement senior management teams.
* Knowledge of people development requirements, core technical and behavioural competence in the function
* Long term strategic planning and tactical thinking.
* Practical problem solving of complex issues.
* Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse range of technical and leadership deliverable
* High level of interpersonal skills and ability to communicate, influence and direct decision making at all levels
* Educated to degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 15 years' experience in a manufacturing and engineering business environment.
* Member of a recognised professional Engineering institute
