Manufacturing Engineer (Contract) Location: Newcastle upon Tyne Salary: £40,000 per annum Hours: Day Shift (Monday - Friday 37 hours) Contract Type: Temporary We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading engineering client based in Newcastle upon Tyne on a temporary contract. Working standard day shifts, you will take full ownership of production engineering support, driving manufacturing methods, project managing capital investments, and keeping pre-production schedules running smoothly. Key Responsibilities Production Engineering & Process Design: Define and apply robust manufacturing methods, tooling, and process technologies (machining, finishing, and processing components). CAM Programming & Digital Engineering: Create machine tool part programs using Siemens NX and CREO. Develop and maintain machine tool post-processors and 3D models for manufacturing/measurement. Capital & Revenue Expenditure: Define financial justifications, manage CapEx/OpEx budgets, procure required hardware, and track performance improvements against original business cases. Quality & SOPs: Create, implement, and maintain Quality Acceptance Standards, Method Statements, Tooling SOPs, and Operational Standard Procedures (OSPs). Pre-Production & Tooling: Support pre-production schedules, create manufacturing information, and specify, procure, and maintain specialized tooling. What We Are Looking For Proven experience as a Manufacturing, Production, or Process Engineer. Advanced proficiency in Siemens NX and CREO for CAD/CAM part programming. Demonstrated capability in CapEx project management-from financial justification to procurement and performance monitoring. Deep knowledge of machining, finishing, and component processing techniques. Experience creating robust SOPs, method statements, and quality standards in a fast-paced environment. 37 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4pm, Friday 7.30am to 12.30pm. Initial training 3-6 months with opportunities of shift work and overtime further down the line. Temporary contract with a strong possibility of a permanent role for the right candidate.
