Factory Support Operator £15.50 - £17.50 per hour Dayshift Monday to Friday (37 hours per week) Newcastle Upon Tyne Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business known for delivering high-quality engineered solutions to a range of demanding industries. Driven by a strong order book, they are currently seeking a reliable, multi-skilled Factory Support Operator to join their close-knit production team on a permanent/ongoing basis. The Role: As a Factory Support Operator, you will play a vital hands-on role in keeping the shop floor moving efficiently and safely. Combining material handling with basic mechanical assembly, you will support production workflows across various stages of manufacture. Key Responsibilities: Safe operation of overhead cranes to move heavy components, raw materials, and assemblies around the shop floor. Driving Forklift Trucks (FLT) to assist with goods in/out, line feeding, and general material movement. Performing basic mechanical assembly using hand tools, power tools, and basic engineering drawings/work instructions. Assisting production technicians and engineers with general workshop duties to maintain smooth workflow. Adhering strictly to health & safety guidelines, manual handling procedures, and shop floor housekeeping (5S). About You: We are looking for a practical, safety-conscious individual with experience working in a fast-paced workshop or factory environment. Key Requirements: Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) license (Counterbalance and/or Reach). Valid Overhead Crane license and previous experience operating overhead gantry/pendant cranes within a engineering or manufacturing setting. Hands-on mechanical aptitude with experience using basic manual and power assembly tools. Ability to read basic assembly instructions and technical drawings.
