We are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer, who with be responsible for Value Analysis and Engineering for an innovative, global manufacturing company, recognised for its achievements based in Newton Aycliffe.
The Mechanical Design VAVE Engineer will really a salary between £45,000 and £50,000 per annum. Competitive pension, 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, health and wellbeing incentives, core value nominations and a company bonus scheme. The Mechanical Design VAVE Engineer will work 37.5 hours a week, Monday - Friday. This company has been nominated for company of the year.
Operating within the Business Development Team with the main responsibility for all Mechanical Design
Value analysis and engineering activities. Additionally supporting product R&D, New Business Opportunities and all business Mechanical Design and Drawing Office controls. Working alongside the supply chain, manufacturing and quality teams the role will contribute to the continuous improvement of pressure transducer quality whilst increasing output and delivering lower overall cost.
Main duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Design VAVE Engineer.
Value Analysis existing products, processes and suppliers to support operational goals.
Value Engineering new products, processes and suppliers to meet product road-map
requirements.
Project manage a number of tasks/activities to achieve VAVE objectives.
Design and optimise to legislative, customer specification and business scope.
Tear down, prototyping, test, evaluation and reporting.
CAD/solid-modelling, CFD and FEA.
Design Failure Mould and Effect Analysis.
Capability study, tolerance analysis and gauge R&R.
Geometric tolerances and tooling.
Robust drawing office management; ownership of change control; phase-in/phase-out planning.
Essential requirements of the Mechanical Design VAVE Engineer:
BSc or BEng in Mechanical, Electronics, Manufacturing, Materials Technology or Science
discipline.
Knowledge and understanding of supplier CNC machining & stamping; plastic moulding &
vacuum forming; potting and gel materials and general electronics assembly.
Knowledge associated with assembly processes such as welding; robotic handling; calibration
systems and metrology.
Desirable requirements of the Mechanical Design VAVE Engineer:
Experience of supporting large CAPEX projects and new supplier development.
Demonstrable experience developing and optimising high-volume industrial products
demonstrating a detailed understanding of the entire design and manufacturing process from
customer requirements back to supplier capabilities.
