Process Control Engineer

Kinetic are seeking to recruit an experienced Process Control Engineer for a permanent role in the Wirral. Key accountabilities are to: - Improve process controls and provides production support for manufacturing in COMAH facility. - Responsible for the safe and efficient day to day operations of plant process control systems, interlock systems, as well as troubleshooting and repair of those systems. HSE: - Take care of themselves and others who might be affected by the actions and inactions. - Cooperate with the Company to ensure compliance with the law and other requirements to which it may subscribe. - Shall not interfere or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety, welfare and the protection of the environment. - Use any machinery, equipment, dangerous substance, transport equipment, means of production, safety device and written instruction provided to them in accordance both with any training and the instructions which have been provided. Technical & Business Support: - Responsible for assessing requirements for DCS enhancements and for setting plans to implement the upgrades. - Identify and/or develop improved process controls. - Assist in the commissioning and start-up of new processes/products in the manufacturing area; interlock checks, programming functionality checks, control loop tuning, etc. - Attends Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and final commissioning tests for projects pertaining to control systems. - Collaborate with site EC & I Engineer in designs, specifications, starts up and troubleshoots process instrumentation, DCS, data historian. - Responsible with close collaboration with run plant engineers for the Alarm Management and Human Machine Interface. - Designs, plans and programs process measurement and control systems for plants based on P&IDs from process engineers. - PHA inputs and other process design documents. - High level awareness and compliance with applicable Cybersecurity requirements and policies. - Ability to perform software configuration and programming. - Review and approve project engineering solutions and documentation. - Ensure the Project Manager/Engineering Team Leader are kept informed of progress and issues for all engineering aspects of the project delivery. - Develop and design programs for PLC's and DCS's. - Writes programs for process control support. - Support the production areas with programming and controls needs. - Identify maintenance and upgrade needs for plant process controls and data historian systems. - Execute projects to enhance and maintain process control network and data historian where needed. - Maintain the most up to date versions of the process controls programs including all software and firmware updates. - Participates in commissioning and start up activities involving new electrical components or systems, process controls or instrumentation. - Support the maintenance and E&I technicians with troubleshooting. - Analysis reliability issues and opportunities in order to improve plant uptime. - Responsible to share technical input and know-how and experience with the Team. People: - Responsible to work with E&I engineer and technicians in support of electrical controls engineering needs and objectives to include evaluation and implementation of new controls technologies and reliability strategies. Continuous Improvement: - Preparation and approval of system documentation, including functional specifications, test documents and system support manuals. - Ability to take responsibility for the technical delivery of projects. - Identify opportunities to improve via the MOC process / implement minor amendment procedure. Qualifications and Experience: - Degree in Process Operations/Engineering. - At least 5 years of related DCS experience in plant operations in a similar manufacturing environment. - Knowledge of independent safety systems, Safety Controls and Automation Systems. - Knowledge of ABB 800 XA including batch processes. - Additional computer skills in terms of computer programming with PLCs and/or DCS's such as Visual Basic, Control language, Ladder Logic, etc is required.
