Product Engineer

We are currently looking for a Product Engineer to work on the development of new battery packs for commercial vehicles. This is a hybrid role, it is expected that you will be working onsite an average of 2 days per week. Initially the end date for the role is 27/12/2024 but given the duration of the project it is expected that this assignment will be extended. As a Production Engineer you will form part of the electrical design team which in turn is part of the wider design team made up of the electrical, mechanical and thermal design teams. Electrical automotive experience would be advantageous. Systems or controls background in the automotive sector is required to be considered. Production Engineer Job Summary: This product focused position performs established technical tasks at the sub-system and/or component level for current and future products within a given business unit or corporate area. This involves work across many steps in the product life cycle. Production Engineer Key Responsibilities: Own Design and Release of Electrical Commodities and Electrical Components across various Battery programs. Ensure iDFMEA & Commodity Design Validation Plan, Engineering Specification, Standards (ESW), Design Rules & Guidelines, Requirements, Statement of Work process/documents are effectively implemented in the design condition at the appropriate design maturity gateways. Ensure robust timing plans are in place that achieves Program milestones and targets (Quality, Cost, Functionality, Weight, and timing). Lead issue resolution (FIRGS) and make sure all changes are implemented robustly and support programs objectives. Lead suppliers through design phase, procurement of prototypes, production tooling and ensure components perform to requirements. Analyse & support technical requirements to support customer within the constraints of manufacturing, sequencing, and optimized giveaway cost. Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role. Production Engineer Qualifications & Skills Degree in relevant Engineering discipline with a minimum 5 years relevant experience. Experience of complex Electrical Distribution and Electrical Automotive Systems (Battery advantage) Experience using 2D/3D specific CAD tools: PTC CREO would be an advantage Design through to production program manage experience and manage several parts across multiple Battery programs. Experience in specifying and designing automotive/battery pack low voltage, high voltage and control hardware , including understanding of typical battery characteristics and protective systems required. Experience of typical BEV and PHEV battery system solutions and technologies. Flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) and laminated busbar design experience ( advantage) Ability to work individually and in a cross functional team. Working Knowledge of Problem Resolution Techniques. Good communication, Self-motivation, and prioritization. Working Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:30 Hourly Rate: £28.66 to £33.41 DOE.
